RULERSHIP

Romans 5:17 “For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”(AMP)

It is inferred, and sometimes plainly taught, that we’ll reign with Jesus during the Millennium. This is true, but it’s not the whole truth. Others teach that we’ll reign in Heaven, or the Sweet By-and-By. This is also true, but it’s still not the whole truth. In both cases, either because of wrong teaching or the lack of right teaching, the impression is that we can’t expect much in this life.

This “impression” says, you can be saved, all right. But you have to continue to be ruled by the devil—by sin, sickness, poverty, fear, and bondage. You have to go through life this way until you finally barely make it into Heaven. But that’s not what the Bible teaches.

The very notion of reigning carries with it the idea of ruling, of dominion, and of having authority.

Well, where do kings rule and reign: In their particular domain or kingdom. Paul said we “reign as kings in life.” We have the authority to rule and reign and have dominion in our life—in the life we have here and now!

Someone might say, “Well, I don’t see very many people ruling and reigning in life.”

One reason is that this truth hasn’t been proclaimed or taught as it should be. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge . . . .” Notice this verse doesn’t say sinners are destroyed for lack of knowledge. It says God’s people are destroyed because of their lack of knowledge. This infers that if God’s people had knowledge of who they really are in Christ, of who God is, and of the rights and privileges of their dominion—they wouldn’t be destroyed. One reason Satan is often able to reign, or rule, in the life of Christians is because those Christians do not realize the authority that has been given to them. Many times Christians think Jesus is going to do everything for them; they do not realize they have a part to play. Many times people say, “I’ve left it up to the Lord; He’s going to do it.” But, no, the real truth about the matter is, He has left it up to you! Let’s find out our job and position. Let’s find out what we’re supposed to do!

We’ve heard a lot taught about grace, and thank God for His grace. But not only have we received abundance of grace; we’ve also received the “gift of righteousness.” What does the “gift of righteousness” mean? First, it’s a gift, which means we didn’t do anything to earn or deserve it. Second, it means we have been made right with God. It means we have right-standing with God!

If you’re in right-standing with God, there is nothing coming between you and Him. If you’re in right-standing with God, you can’t be in any better standing with Him. That is a truth you need to learn and get firmly settled in your heart and mind. God has made you king through Jesus Christ to reign in this life and this year He is calling us to respond to our position in Christ Jesus.

  1. Ruler-ship In our Personal Lives:
    1. Ruling in righteousness and enforcing the purpose of God in your life: bible studying, faith confession, prayer, fasting and pushing for destiny manifestation. 1 Timothy 4:7-9 says “Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. "Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come." This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it.”
    2. Ruling in your family with the mandate and will of God: Joshua 24:15 says “…But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."”
    3. Ruling influence of Christ through you into your relationships and friendships. 1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
    4. Ruling over fleshly works of the enemy as mentioned in Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[d] drunkenness, revelries, and the like…”

  1. Ruler-ship In our church vision:
    1. Pushing the vision agenda of God concerning the church by blocking the lordship of naysayers. Exodus 35:20-22 says “Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord's contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord.”
    2. Enforcing the ruler-ship of the image of Christ Jesus in our midst. Ephesians 5:1 “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.”
    3. Enforcing love and order as the power in the house of God. 1 Corinthians 14:40 “But all things should be done decently and in order.”

  1. Ruler-ship In our community:
    1. Enforcing the display of the hope we have in Christ Jesus to be known. Colossians 1:27 says “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
    2. Ruling over timidity and shyness in order to pull souls into the kingdom of God. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and of sound mind”
    3. Become the ruling voice of love, empowerment, restoration and peace in our communities and neighborhood. Proverbs 16:24 says “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

  1. Ruler-ship In our World:
    1. Our voice must rise and be a force for impact and transformation in the world. Romans 8:19 says “For the world awaits the manifestation of the sons of God”
    2. We must become the “go-to” people in this world for counsel and empowerment. Micah 4:2 says “Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
    3. The riches in Christ Jesus in us must be demonstrated in ruler-ship over any perception and worldly concepts which seem to have dominion over the minds of many people. Psalms 67:2 says “May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere.”
    4. Jesus Christ must rule the world through us! 1 John 4:4 says “…greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

HAVE A GREAT YEAR OF RULERSHIP!

May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, be your portion and may you walk in all blessings of God in Jesus mighty name. AMEN!
